It was a hot summer day in the bunker, and a small portable plastic fan was rigged to dangle from the ceiling, erratically scraping a steel wire suspended across the room. A piece of paper was attached to the wire that dangled the fan, both to make the fan move more from the air currents, and to make its movement more visible (see shadow on the wall). A version of the track, without lyrics and overdubs, exists as "Eine sommerliche Installation."
